And we are back to wine this weekend!  We have a fruity, crisp and slightly sweet Riesling from the Willamette Valley in Oregon, a new Pinot Noir from New Zealand and a new Rioja from Spain.  Finally, in honor of today’s start of  World Cup soccer championship play, we have a wine from the tournament’s location – South Africa.  This white blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay, is also new to the shop.

We also wanted to remind everyone that for Father’s Day weekend (which is NEXT WEEKEND), we will be featuring Cincinnati’s very own Burnet Ridge wines.  Winemaker Chip Emmerich will be on hand to help pour on Saturday but we will feature the wines both Saturday and Sunday.  Bring Dad on down!

Finally, we have a special treat for one of our upcoming Tuesday tastings – Jean-Pascal Lacaze – winemaker for  Domus Aurea, Penalolen, and Vina Pargua – will be on hand to sample his wines on Tuesday, June 22.  We will have some food on hand to sample as well. 5 – 7 p.m. $10 per person.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! As the official start of summer, this weekend looks like its going to be a good one.  Why not stop by and stock up on your favorite picnic/cookout wines or beers?  Don’t forget we have a wonderful selection of nice crisp white wines – everything from citrus infused Sauvignon Blancs to smooth, buttery Chardonnays.  Might we suggest a dry Rose to go with your fruit and cheese plate or a nice hearty Zinfandel to accompany that grilled steak?  And..oh yeah…we have a few dozen GREAT beers!

This weekend, we are headed to South America with our tasting – all four wines are new.  We are featuring a  Torrontes and a Malbec from Argentina and a Sauvignon Blanc and a Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile.  The “Ave” wines from Argentina are produced by Italian wine makers who now blend their Old World methods with New World style. $3 to taste all four; no reservation necessary.

Cheers!

We have a couple of lovely Italian wines this weekend (a Cortese and a Barbera from the Piemonte region of Northern Italy), a new French Sauvignon Blanc and a lovely California Central Coast Zinfandel from a fairly new winery. Cheers!

Another great upcoming weekend at Market Wines!  First of all, we would like to invite you to bring your MOM to the shop to participatewomanwine in our tasting this coming Sunday.  We will have an extra tasting of Bricco del Sole Moscato D’Asti available only on Sunday.  If you’ve never tasted a Moscato D’Asti before, you are in for treat – slightly sparkling, sweet and lovely – just like your mom.  Then wander around the Market and buy her something special or take her to this year’s first Second Sunday on Main in Over-the-Rhine.

Also on the menu are a couple of lovely French wines (a white wine from Gascony and a Grenache/Syrah blend), a Pinot Noir from California and a Rose from Washington State.  Join us!

Wine Tasting – May 1 & 2, 2010

11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This Saturday and Sunday, we will be tasting several new wines – a couple of bottles from sunny Spain, an Italian white and a classic Southern French red.

The Cantina del Taburno Falanghina is a refreshing, crisp, minerally white from Italy’s Campania region. Our two Spanish wines are both new to the shop:  Artazuri Rosado is a fresh, fruity rose from the Nevarro region of Spain and the Bodegas Castano Monastrell is 100% Mouvedre grape form Yecla (which is just fun to say).  Our final wine -  the French Domaine Du Dragon Cuvee Saint-Michel is an especially good buy.

Come and try with us! $3 to taste all four wines; no reservations necessary.
