It’s the weekend before the big feast and wow do we have some great wines picked out for you!

We are starting with a new slightly off-dry German Riesling.  This wine is deliciously fruity and crisp and packed with vibrant, flavors of peach, apricot with hints of apple and melon.  Perfect with turkey!

The second wine is a lovely little white Bordeaux from France.  This classic blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and a hint of Muscadelle with hints of gooseberries, citrus and flint on the nose that are echoed on the medium to light bodied, crisp, dry palate.

Our third wine is new Pinot Noir from Oregon’s Willamette Valley – lots of lush black cherry on the nose and palate, a light hint of spice, a velvet-like texture and  a very rewarding, smooth finish.  It’s an amazing price too – down from $39.99 to $19.99!

Our final wine is another French wine – a Cotes-du-Rhone that is cool and elegant, pure, and with a lovely scent of loganberries.

We have a special extra treat for you this weekend (of course, it’s Halloween!). We will be the first place in the country to taste the new 2009 vintage of Orin Swift’s The Prisoner!
Orin Swift Prisoner

This mostly zinfandel blend has a bright garnet color with aromas of ripe berry and cherry with just a hint of new oak. Big fruit flavors and soft tannins round out this sensational wine.

We will start the tasting with a Spanish blend of Verdejo with some Viura mixed in as well. The nose is loaded with bright fruit – lemon, melon and grapefruit. Super clean and crisp, this wine would be perfect with lighter seafood dishes.

Our second wine is a Godello, an ancient white varietal that has been around since the Romans occupied this area of Spain. Medium to full bodied, this wine has the aromas and flavors of green melon, apple, a touch of citrus and distinct notes of slate on the finish.

Our third wine is another Spanish wine – a Garnacha from the southeastern boundary of Rioja, this unoaked red has plenty of spicy raspberry and cherry on the nose, and firm and dark berry flavors braced with a zesty acidity.

Our fourth wine is a new Petite Sirah from California – deep purple in color, it has exotic aromas of blackberries and smoky bacon. The first sip is full of silky fruit flavors – the second sip shows you the depth with note of tobacco coffee. Yum!

Join us this for a very Happy Hallowine weekend!

Bonjour!  We are going to France this weekend with three wines from that country and one new red blend from Oregon.
To begin with, we have a new fresh and fruity blend of Colombard and Ugni Blanc – a wonderful complement to seafood and creamy cheeses!  Our second wine is a dry Rose, also from France, with a soft pink color that has  fresh floral notes and aromas of pear and light red fruits (raspberry and red currant). Our third French wine is a blend of Grenache 40%, Syrah 30%, Mourvedre 20% and Carignan 10%.

LesDeuxRives
It comes from Corbières and has a bouquet of dusty black raspberry, soft cherry, leather, cocoa and cedar with a soft palate full of ripe fruit.

Our final wine is a new one from Hood River, Oregon. This blend of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon balances rich fruit with spicy tones – perfect with grilled meats or Fall stews!

We are also trying a little experiment this weekend – we will have a limited number of cheese sampler boxes (from Findlay vendor Gibb’s Cheese and Sausage) for sale during the Saturday tasting for $5.  Just ask for one when you come in for your tasting!

Join us and celebrate the beginning of October!

We don’t usually have a specific theme for our tastings, but looking at this week’s offerings, you could definitely say we are offering some amazing wines at amazing prices.
First is a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand’s Marlborough region – a crisp blend of intense tropical fruit, vibrant citrus and refreshing acidity.

Since we are getting more into the cooler months, we are tasting three red wines this weekend.  The first is a red blend from Spain – perfect for pairing with Fall stews or meat paellas!  The second is a wonderfully priced (only $11.99) Super Tuscan that is 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. We will finish with a California red blend of Petite Sirah, Old Vine Zinfandel & Old Vine Mourvedre…a limited edition wine that will only be around until we sell out!
